Aronia

Aronia – also known in Danish as surbær, vredbær, sortfrugtet surbær, or sortrøn – comes from the Aronia melanocarpa shrub in the rose family.´
In English, it is often called chokeberry. In Spanish, bayas de aronia o Aronias.

Originally native to North America, aronia is now widely cultivated in Denmark thanks to its hardiness and remarkable health benefits. Danish producers have increasingly turned to this berry because it thrives in our climate and offers a unique Nordic alternative to imported superfoods.
