Why I Started Mirakel
It all started during my maternity leave.
I was spending way too much on açaí bowls, having them delivered to my door whenever the days felt a little too tough. They became my guilty pleasure, my pick-me-up, my small escape.
But then I started asking myself: Couldn’t I just make them myself?
That’s when I ran into another problem—finding açaí in Denmark. It’s almost impossible to get in a normal supermarket. And that’s how I stumbled upon aronia. A fruit you could call the açaí of the North.
Sure, it tastes a bit raw on its own, but it’s packed with antioxidants. And when you pair it with the right fruits, nuts, or toppings—something amazing happens.
At the same time, I was thinking about my new life in Denmark. I want to belong here, call this country home, and raise my daughter in a way that lets her grow up both Colombian and Danish. I want her to see that her mom is brave enough to start something new, even in a place far from where she was born.
Food has always been close to my heart. With my first project, Asawaa, I supported local production. And I’ve always believed that food isn’t just food—it’s love, family, and community.
One challenge now is that I need to learn more about ice cream. But the good thing? I’ve always had a flair for food science. And I know that curiosity (and a bit of stubbornness) will take me far.
So the bowls became more than just bowls. They turned into a little dream. A dream rooted in my daily life as a mom, my search for identity as an expat, and my passion for building something meaningful.
That’s how Mirakel Bowl was born: from too many deliveries, a lot of curiosity, and the belief that even small actions—like making a bowl—can be a way of creating a new life, in a new home.
